Hello,

a bit about me:

Steve Jobs said innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.  To this one might add, it also takes passion, a zest for continued learning, and commitment.  For the past twenty-five years, in the pursuit of creating innovative media-based learning tools, I have served as a student, teacher, builder, manager, and more.  In so doing, I have developed and delivered enhanced, technologically advanced and interactive, online multimedia curricula to educators and learners across the globe. Currently, my focus is using technology to train surgeons the concepts and skills required for mastery in the operating room.

As a medical educationalist, I collaborate with surgeon editorial teams to define competencies and write problem-based surgical training curricula. I also produce the resulting media-rich learning modules. From identifying appropriate teaching modalities, writing scripts, directing the on-camera instruction in the studio or O.R, constructing the modules, developing associated assessments, and guiding deployment of courses, I'm involved throughout the production process.

Working for the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE), I was at the forefront of the organization’s online learning and teacher professional development programs. Early on, I was instrumental in building the video department within EdTech Productions, devoted exclusively to media-based online learning and training.  I was promoted to Instructional Designer and Project Manager for the Office’s Digital Solutions unit, where I oversaw the development of online media programs, courses, and training modules. Throughout my sixteen years at SDCOE, I supported teachers' use of technology in their classrooms.

As a daughter of a teacher and an activist for higher education, it was only natural that I would earn a Masters degree in education to round out my BS in Telecommunications and Film and post graduate studies in Teacher Education.
